Kevin McCarthy Agrees to “Motion to Vacate” but negotiations still continue.
In a call between Kevin McCarthy and the House Republican Caucus over the weekend, he agreed to a motion to vacate the chair a parliamentary procedure that would allow as few as five members of Congress to trigger a vote of no confidence that could result in his removal of as Speaker of the House. Although negotiations are still under way as McCarthy is still trying to secure the 218 votes needed in his bid as Speaker of House. The vote will take place January 3rd.
