Language Weaponized
Language Weaponized
A major theme in George Orwell’s 1984 was “New Speak.” The idea was that the language had been so changed s to make expressing ideas contrary to government policy, very difficult or impossible. The Democrats are starting to use this strategy. By changing the phraseology, the entire context can be changed.
Consider, what we used to call bums, now we are supposed to called “homeless.” This changes the context from one of fault, to making them seem blameless. In reality, most homeless are addicts, and/or mentally ill. In either case professional help is available in shelters, but they don’t want help or don’t believe they need it. The public largely been made to believe believe this is a housing issue. The left pushes a “solution” of “housing first.” “Homelessness,” it really is just a symptom of a very dysfunctional person.
Homelessness is actually a relatively new phenomenon. In the past, bums were arrested and if found mentally ill, placed in institutions. The care and treatment they needed was forced upon them. They had no access to their drug pushers and to alcohol. “Homelessness” is really a slow motion-suicide! Allowing them to live in tents is not kindness, it is enabling death, in reality.
Changing the lawful term of illegal aliens to “migrants.” This removes the stigma of being here illegally.
Welfare has long redefined as “entitlements.” Being on “welfare,” used to be shameful.
Consider what we used to call, murders using guns, is now referred to as: “Gun Violence.” Implying more gun control is the solution, not locking up deadly criminals. Incarceration may not change the behavior of many, but it does keep them out of public contact. Today, with early release, no-cash bail, and DA’s unwilling to charge, criminals are free to continue their criminal careers.
