Speaker McCarthy Launches Impeachment Inquiry of President Biden
Speaker McCarthy announced today that the House will be opening an impeachment inquiry on the possible involvement of President Biden in overseas business affairs of Hunter Biden, his son, stating, “House Republicans have uncovered serious and credible allegations into President Biden's conduct. Taken together these allegations paint a picture of a culture of corruption.” This investigation will be headed by Representatives James Comer (R-KY), Jason Smith (R-MO), Jim Jordan (R-Ohio). The investigation will look at “Hunter Biden’s alleged use of his father’s name and influence as then-vice president to extract payments from foreign business entities and what, if any involvement President Biden may have had in those exchanges.”
Initially, the investigation will center around the business activities with Burisma, a Ukrainian gas company and any potential US policy changes made in Ukraine around the same period.
Speaker McCarthy believes that President Biden lied to us about his knowledge of Hunter’s foreign business dealings. The reasons:
House Oversight Committee has unearthed emails between President Biden and his staff using pseudonymous email accounts of the names of Robin Ware, Robert L. Peters, and JRB Ware to Hunter Biden at the law firm where he worked.
The Biden family had at least 20 shell companies through which approximately 150 transactions were flagged as suspicious activity.
There are nearly $20M in payments made directly to Biden family members and associates through those shell companies.
By initiating this inquiry, it will allow Republicans to obtain information (bank records, etc.) that they would otherwise not be able to obtain. It will allow them to answer the question that President Biden once smugly asked at a press conference, “Where’s the money?”
