Gilliam, who was raised in China and now lives in Silicon Valley, gave an inside look at China from a former member of the Chinese Communist Party. She said the years of propaganda fell away one night when she attended a showing of Shen Yun in the Bay Area. The theatrical experience of Shen Yun offers a moving journey through the five millennia of traditional Chinese culture.
